Week 3 NFL Picks and Thoughts

Florida Football Magazine’s Week 3 NFL Picks

Week 2 Results: 10 Wins 6 Losses

Season Record: 21 Wins 11 Losses

Power 5
1. Patriots (2-0) —16-0 is not out of the question especially now that they will be playing angry all year with cheating being brought up after every win.

2. Cowboys (2-0) – Looking very impressive on offense and playing in a weaker than advertised division.

3. Colts (2-0) – Still questions on defense but absolutely no questions about the offense.

4. Chargers (1-1) – This team needs to rebound after getting demolished by the Pats but no team has started with as tough of schedule as the Chargers. I don’t see Tomlinson getting shut down the way he has the first two games.

5. Steelers (2-0) – Will need to still prove that they can win against stronger teams then they played the first two weeks.

Sunday, Sep. 23
Arizona vs Baltimore 1:00
Look for the Ravens to play stellar Defense and pound the ball against a Cardinals team that hasn’t exactly looked smooth in the opening two games.
Ravens 24 Cards 10

Buffalo vs New England 1:00
The Patriots have looked unstoppable the first two weeks and will not be slowed by the Bills in week 3.
Patriots 34 Bills 13

Detroit vs Philadelphia 1:00
Could the Lions really start 3-0? The Eagles have looked sloppy in two losses including last week at Home on a Monday night. I see the Eagles bouncing back led by Westbrook.
Eagles 23 Lions 20

Indianapolis vs Houston 1:00
Two undefeated two teams…The Texans are better than some media is giving them credit for but I don’t see them beating the Colts without Andre Johnson.
Colts 27 Texans 17

Miami vs N.Y. Jets 1:00
Two conference rivals struggling. Someone has to win and the Jets are normally better at home.
Jets 17 Dolphins 7

Minnesota vs Kansas City 1:00
Adrian Peterson is going to be very good for hopefully a long time. He could really use some help at QB but won’t get that anytime soon. Look for a hard fought game with both teams pounding the ball on the ground.
Vikings 21 Chiefs 17

San Diego vs Green Bay 1:00
Week 3 was suppose to finally be the week the Chargers would get an easy win…hold on the Packers are 2-0 and Brett Farve looks like he is 27. The Chargers will still be too much for the Packers.
Chargers 38 Packers 10

San Francisco vs Pittsburgh 1:00
Looking into the year not many people would think this game would feature two teams without a loss. The Steelers win this game at home.
Steelers 20 49ers 14

St. Louis vs Tampa Bay 1:00
Both teams fans are surprised for two different reasons. The Bucs are 1-1 with a win over the predicted best team in the NFC and hard fought loss against the Seahawks. The Rams are winless after losing two straight games at home.
Rams 27 Bucs 17

Cincinnati vs Seattle 4:05
Did the Bengals really lose to the Browns? Maybe the Seahawks will start the Browns week 1 starter Charlie Frye? Not likely but the Seahawks will still win with Matt Hassleback at home.
Seahawks 38 Bengals 31

Cleveland vs Oakland 4:05
Cough…Culpepper…Cough…Culpepper…Cough Brady Quin…you get the idea. Two bad teams not willing to play the right QB. One of the teams will leave this game knowing they cannot go winless this year. If this game were played in November both teams would be fighting to lose and have a chance at the #1 pick in the Draft.
Raiders 17 Browns 13

Jacksonville vs Denver 4:05
The Broncos have won their first two games by a total of 4 points. Look for them to win this game at home by more that 4 points.
Broncos 23 Jags 16

Carolina vs Atlanta 4:15
Look at last weeks pick to see I had the Panthers falling flat after a big week 1 win. Look for them to easily rebound this week.
Panthers 24 Falcons 9

N.Y. Giants vs Washington 4:15
Like I said last week Jason Campbell is a pretty decent quarterback. The Redskins D will bring all kinds of pressure this week against the younger Manning.
Redskins 27 Giants 3

Dallas vs Chicago 8:15
This is going to be a great game! Cowboys bring their high powered offense against the stingy Bears defense. Look for Rex Grossman to be the difference maker…and not in a good way…starting hear the echo of Griese coming from Bears fans.
Cowboys 24 Bears 13

Monday, Sep. 24
Tennessee vs New Orleans 8:30
Strange night game with the Titans playing a lot better than expectations and the pre-crowned NFC Champions without a win this season. Reggie Bush is due for a big game and he loves the national audience.
Saints 34 Titans 20
